COWBOY MAGIC® SHAMPOO for FIBER PROCESSING. Some time ago I was introduced to the Cowboy Magic® products by a good cyber friend who is an amazing equestrian, animal groomer, shepherd, shearer, dyer, spinner, knitter and weaver. These products were developed for grooming horses manes and tails and protein fiber is, after all, animal hair. Since then I have used the shampoo when washing a fairly clean fleece and I always use the conditioner in the final rinse when washing and dyeing fleece and yarn. I rarely buy a really dirty fleece so I don’t know how well the shampoo would do as a scour but I will try it out sometime. To whiten a yellow stained fleece or brighten any colored fleece I use the Shine in Yellowout shampoo and I will try the “detangling shampoo” when I have a need to do so Finally, my friend spritzes fleece with the “Green Spot Remover” when static is a problem when combing or spinning but with our Texas humidity, I probably won’t try it out. If any of these prove to be effective and there seems to some interest, I may offer them as well. Since the company does not authorize wholesale dealerships to “small sellers” I am offering these products in my shop at my cost with no profit to me because I want to introduce them to other fiber artists and see what you think. Upon request I will also send a copy of “Laurie‘s Method for Fiber Processing.” This is a written version of my method for washing fiber developed through trial and error over a period of time. There are as many methods as there are fiber artists and I certainly don’t profess to be an expert. However, unlike some experts I do not charge for sharing my method and I gladly welcome any suggestions or additions to those I have formulated. I would also be pleased to email a PDF copy if anyone requests it via message. To me a great part of the joy of being in the fiber community is the sharing of experience and learning with each other.
