Buffalo hide is naturally oily, and glossy.  Raw Equine Premium For those who love stropping, but do not want to bother using any stropping compound, raw equine offers the best of both worlds. It contains a high concentration of silicate like the premium equine, and is dense, similar to rolled buffalo. However, it is low concentration of oils, which makes the surface less slippery, and offers lots of control during stropping.   The high silicate concentration makes it very usable without any stopping compound.  But for those who want to load with stropping compound, we have found it takes 5-6K grit compound extremely well.  It’s currently heavily used by Ryky in his latest sharpening kit.
