Most guys won’t wear cufflinks everyday, but save them for a special occasion such as a wedding, graduation, anniversary, or night on the town.   A great focal point of any man’s outfit is his belt buckle.  We love handcrafting belt buckles for men, including western belt buckles, cowboy belt buckles, and other custom belt buckles.  We’re happy to add on a personalized line of text to the front or back of the belt buckle to make it the perfect, sentimental gift.  From mountain ranges, to bears, to modern, geometric patterns, our custom belt buckles are sure to please even the most difficult-to-shop-for guy on your list.   How we make our personalized metal accessories   Every personalized Hattie Rex product is made to order just for you, and made by hand from start to finish.  Once we receive your order, our team of trained metalsmiths begin with a sheet of metal. We use copper, brass, aluminum, nickel silver, and sterling silver.  First, we cut the metal using a pancake die and hydraulic press, disc cutter, or jeweler’s saw. Next, we remove any metal burrs or rough edges with a belt sander. We’ll do the final polish later, but we sand it down first to make sure we have an even, flat surface for the next step.   This step is our favorite because it’s where the piece of metal becomes your customized gift!  We place the metal pieces on a steel bench block and use an antique hammer to hand-stamp your personalized text on the money clip, tie clip, cufflinks, keychain, or belt buckle.  The hand-stamping process is what differentiates our handmade method from machined or engraved personalized gifts. Every letter and number is stamped individually by hand, creating a unique, one-of-a-kind artisan present.  The spacing of the letters is artistically executed, ensuring that your handmade gift for your guy isn’t mistaken for a robot-produced gift. Next, the pieces of our money clips, keychains, belt buckles, and cufflinks are soldered together using an oxygen and acetylene-fueled torch.  This part is the most exciting! We love the way fire can join together two pieces of metal, creating a thick, sturdy piece of personalized metal art.  After soldering and cooling, the keychains make their way over to the drill press where we add a hole for the split ring to go in later. Now, the personalized metal gifts go through a round of polishing in a tumbler.  After tumbling, we darken the metal to add contrast before they go through a final polishing by hand.    For our traditional keychains, we attach a USA-made, heavy-duty, zinc-plated stainless steel split ring to attach to your keys.  This makes our mixed metal keychains durable and safe to ensure that your personalized keychain will last for years to come.
